Most people today, especially those who work in a more high-tech environment, have become comfortable and possibly even accustomed to using web browsers and the internet to look up the information they need from personal banking; to live box scores; to finding the best deal on-line for that new best-seller. It is not surprising that the same trend exists in the business world as well. As is well-known within the iSeries community, there is an increasing demand for GUI based applications and a browser based solution using data-mirroring can offer a fresh and reasonably cost-effective solution -- especially when it comes to inquiry based applications. Our web design work predominantly involves making data and images from the iSeries and other systems available on an intranet network as well as over the internet in a secure manner. Summaries of systems we have implemented are outlined below, but the possibilities for applications yet to be designed are virtually limitless.
Local Government Auditor :: Recorded Document SearchOverview This search engine provides access to digitally scanned recorded documents in a web browser through the internet or inside an intranet. It provides robust search capability using a relational database that emulates the many search paths provided by our recording software on the iSeries and performs well using large data sets. This system was originally designed to work in conjunction with Compu-Tech's own iSeries recording software and Liberty Information Management Solutions software, but could conceivably be customized to work with other database designs; other index capable document management software; or even independent of a document management system. Technical Information Platforms: Linux, Windows 2000 Server Assessor :: Real Property Search Overview This search engine provides access to public real property data as well as scanned maps in a web browser through the internet or inside an intranet. It provides robust search capability using a relational database that emulates the many search paths provided by our assessor software on the iSeries and performs well using large data sets. Technical Information Treasurer :: Real Property Tax Data Inquiry Overview The treasurer's accounts receivable inquiry is currently available as an add on module to the assessor's real property search. This takes advantage of the fact that much of the data in these departments tends to overlap as they both deal with real property. Technical Information Agribusiness Overview This system provides access to company statements including grower statements and equities in a web browser through the internet or inside an intranet using PHP, XML, XSLT, and secure data transfers. This system is designed to work with our own agribusiness software but could conceivably be customized to work with other database designs.
